Soil weed seedbank under different cropping systems of middle Indo-Gangetic Plains

چکیده

Trees on agricultural fields can have a positive or negative impact weed seedbank (WSB) due to diverse environmental and soil characteristics. Therefore, samples were drawn in six cropping systems [two agroforest (AFS): guava, mango; three horticulture (HCS): mango, Indian gooseberry; annual crop system (ACS)] at two landscape positions (lowland upland) depths (0-15 cm 15-30 cm) using factorial randomised block design each replicated times. Results showed that guava-AFS had the highest WSB of different categories general individual species particular, except for Eragrostis pilosa Dactyloctenium aegyptium. Simultaneously, also maximum Shannon-Weaver, richness Simpson index was low Whittaker statistics (βW). The evenness varied non-significantly with systems. Similarly, position no discernible effect any diversity indices; however lowland dominated by Cyperus spp. E. pilosa, while upland Phyllanthus niruri. Furthermore, exception βW, indices found be higher topsoil cm). Our study establishes AFS semi-arid sub-tropics has more indicating healthy system, as opposed HCS, which dominance certain species, opening door severe infestation invasive species.

Effect of organics, biofertilizers and crop residue application on soil microbial activity in rice – wheat and rice-wheat mungbean cropping systems in the Indo-Gangetic plains

The aim of this study was to investigate the response of soil microbial parameters to nutrient management practices involving organic amendments, farmyard manure (FYM), vermicompost (VC), crop residues (CR) and biofertilizers (BF) in rice–wheat and rice–wheat–mung bean cropping system of the IndoGangetic Plains, India. Soil microbial biomass C (Cmic), basal respiration, ergosterol, glomalin, so...

ABSTRACT- Declining land productivity associated with decreasing soil organic carbon and nutrients is a significant issue in monoculture production. The field experiment with different rates of fertilizer systems (60 kg ha-1 N + 100 kg ha-1 P, 300 kg ha-1 Bio-organic (organic fertilizer), 3 kg ha-1 Bioumik (biofertilizer), 30 kg ha-1  N + 50 kg ha-1 P + 150 kg ha-1 Bio-organic fertilizer and 30...

Simulation of Nitrogen Balance in Rice–Wheat Systems of the Indo-Gangetic Plains

Crop growth simulation models provide a means to quantify the effects of climate, soil, and management on crop growth and biogeochemical processes in soil. The Denitrification and Decomposition (DNDC) model was evaluated for its ability to simulate N dynamics and balance in the rice (Oryza sativa L.)–wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cropping systems in the Indo-Gangetic Plains with various N and wa...
